APRIL 09: VIENNA

Belvedere garden

Leopold Museum

Works from several artists. In the basement there was the exhibition of Hermann Nitsch who shocked his audience with photo and video scenes of blood, intestines, and crucifixes.

Palais des Beaux Arts

Hundertwasserhaus

This building complex is the work of the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, with the co-operation of the architect Joseph Krawina. Hundertwasser claimed that straight lines and surfaces are not meant for human anatomy, and accordingly he favors wavy surfaces. Even the corridor floors inside the house undulate gently in a scale of few meters. No two apartments of the house are similar with each other, and the inhabitants have the right to control the appearance of the outer wall as far from the window as their arm can reach.

There is a small shopping mall connected to the building, and the interior of the shopping mall is faithful to the artist's style.
